Ignite Music

Hand Painted Wall Mural

A Mural For A Waiting Room

This Mural was the second mural of my career and my proudest work to date.

Upon meeting the Creative Director and owner Molly and Brad through Facebook local business groups.

We collaborated seamlessly on bringing their ideas to the concept and ultimately realising their vision on the wall in their Music Studio and Tutoring, waiting room space.

They wanted to see the elements of Pop musicians of history and a splash of colour. We went back and forth and after a quick swap of Bruce Springsteen to Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin to Freddie Mercury, and Prince to Michael Jackson, as well as the addition of single-lined illustrative concepts to the instruments and musicians, we were able to create no more than 2-3 concepts before we came to a final concept, that Molly and Brad were ecstatic about.

The wall was already painted a dark grey, allowing for an incredible canvas to create this Mural.

We began by marking out the mural onto the wall with a pencil and a small projector, allowing us to see exactly what the work would look like in the three-dimensional space before I painted it. This was a priceless addition to the process and allowed Molly, the creative director, to collaborate on the layout and create a mural that was to her liking, even before painting.

I created the paint splatters with an assortment of Acrylic paints, thoroughly enjoying the process of throwing wet paint at the wall, and allowing, a very realistic final look with some premixed and off-the-shelf Jo Sonja and Chromacyl paints, I then opted to, paint the whites in a Dulux Vivid White with some acrylic paint brushes, which allowed for a very strong opaque white, allowing the white to stand out extra strong on the grey wall!

Finally, after a fun-filled 3 days, we left the paint to dry in this unpredictable Ill-Nino-ruled weather. We returned 2 days later to seal the wall, in a varnish, which gave it a glossy finish and protective coat that allowed the colour to shine and the wall to become damage-free for its lifetime.

Testimony from Clients:

“We have just finished the process of having Jordan in to design and paint our incredible new Mural in our studios at Ignite Music Dural. Jordan is an absolute professional and has been a dream to work with throughout the whole process.

He took the time to hear about our vision of what we wanted to achieve and was open to feedback to ensure we got the perfect result. Jordan works efficiently and effectively, we would recommend him to anyhow who wants to add a bit of life to their space, whether that’s your business, home or school. Thanks again, Jordan! We hope to work with you again soon! ”
